What Moves Us
The Flow State is a pole dance collective comprised of online learning, in-person experiences, and visual art production. Our community is rooted in creative exploration and the belief that every person has unique gifts worthy of expression.
Pole dancing is more than a discipline — it’s a doorway to a deeper relationship with ourselves. This leads to deeper relationships with the world around us through the cultivation of presence, awareness, connection, and trust. These elements become embodied gifts that serve all facets of our lives.
At the Flow State, we are committed to amplifying voices that have historically been marginalized, most notably BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and sex worker communities. We believe creativity flourishes when every person is empowered to bring their full perspective into the room, and we strive to cultivate spaces where artists can connect, express, collaborate, and explore freely.
The sea and the sky serve as our guiding motifs because they reflect the vastness of consciousness and the mystery that exists both within and around us. Each are immense, awe inspiring, and impossible to fully capture or define, much like the experience of God, creativity, or the state of flow itself.
Through creative expression, we enter a space of inquiry directly — using movement as a way to explore the unknown and commune with something greater than ourselves. In these moments, the body becomes a vessel that translates the invisible into something that can be felt, witnessed, and shared. This understanding is at the heart of our guiding belief that “art is a technology for making God's unconditional love accessible.”
